How to Purchase Lunch

St. Barnabas School is proud to provide your children with hot, nutritious lunches at reasonable prices. Our cafeteria has chosen to step away from the National School Lunch Program in order to serve more of what our students prefer to eat while encouraging healthy choices, teaching portion control and reducing waste.  Our School Nutrition Specialist will continue to utilize many of the NSLP healthy guidelines to ensure good nutrition is still at the center of every plate.  Each lunch consists of five components:  protein, grain, vegetable, fruit and milk.  No other beverage may be substituted for milk.  Soy milk, juice and/or water may be purchased at an additional charge. Extra menu items may be purchased on an ala cart basis as well. Please see the back of the menu for details.

The St. Barnabas cafeteria utilizes a biometric computer system for purchasing lunch. Your children will receive a monthly menu the last Thursday of each month and it can also be found on the school website. Lunch orders will be taken in the classroom each morning. Any additional servings must be ordered at that time as well.

How to Pay for Lunch/Unpaid Balance Policy

The cafeteria computer system is linked to “” where you place money into your children’s accounts for lunch, ala cart items and beverages. Payments from a debit account (no credit card payments) can be made at “” or sent in through the school. Make checks payable to St. Barnabas Cafeteria. If you have more than one child at St. Barnabas, please send one check and indicate how much money you would like applied to each account. Please note that all balances, both positive and negative, carry forward from the previous year. Should your child need a lunch when their account balance is too low, they will be allowed to charge a lunch and a note will be sent home. Payment is expected the next school day. There is a limit of 2 charged lunches. No extra portions or additional beverages will be available for purchase if an account has a negative balance.

This system offers many great features that parents can take advantage of to keep track of your children’s lunch accounts. Please review the instructions on the back of this sheet on how to access this account. Each child has a 4 digit ID number that is required for signup. You can pay online, view each child’s account, and signup for an email reminder to notify you when balances fall below the amount you set. We suggest about $6.00. 

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications

The cafeteria will continue to offer the Free & Reduced Price Lunch Program.  Determinations will utilize the current USDA Income Eligibility Guidelines.  This program applies to the standard lunch only. Additional servings or alternate beverages are at regular cost. Applications are available to download on the school website. If you are unable to download the application, please call the food service director (330) 467-9383 to request a copy. If you have taken advantage of this program in the past, please note that a NEW application MUST be completed each year. All returning applications must be received by September 23rd to insure uninterrupted service. Important: If your financial situation changes during the school year, you may complete an application at any time. All requests will be kept in strict confidence.

How to Buy Beverages Only

The cafeteria stocks low fat and skim milk choices, Silk soy milk, Capri Sun 100% fruit juices, Switch sparkling juice beverage, and small and large waters. All beverages may be purchased with cash at the beverage cooler or charged to their account in the lunch line. 

How to Buy Ice Cream/Snack Treats

The cafeteria sells ice cream treats daily based on the grade chart on the back of your lunch menu. Snack treats are available all days. Ala cart ice cream and snack items must be purchased on a cash only basis with the exception of Fun Food Fridays when students may purchase the special treat offered that day on their account.  Items offered rotate each Friday and include whole grain donuts, cupcakes, cookies, cereal bars, mini muffins, etc.  Please look on the school website for birthday treat package details for September through May. Please note the deadline for ordering end of school year treat packages.
