Academic programs at St. Barnabas are strengthened by a variety of enrichment opportunities. Students participate in academic programs and competitions that allow them to discover and showcase their talents in many different subject areas.
Academic Challenge
For Academic Challenge, students will participate in interscholastic competitions around academic subjects ranging from history, science and math to arts and literature.
Daughters of the American Revolution
Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)
members study race, religion, ethnic background, and lineal descent of patriots from the American Revolution. They will learn about ancestors and their contributions to the independence of the United States of America.
Geography Bee
Geography Bee is a club designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about geography. Open to students within grades 4th-8th. Participants will have opportunities to compete against other school at local, regional, and national competitions.
History Bee
History Bee is a club designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about world history. Open to students within grades 4th-8th. Participants will have opportunities to compete against other school at local, regional, and national competitions.
Mythology Club
Learn how to separate truth from fiction. In this club, students will try to find the truth by investigating claims using research and the scientific method to well-known myths.
National Math Club
National Math Club engages students in mathematics that is non-competitive, fun and different from "textbook math." The program is a completely free MATHCOUNTS program. Students from grades 6th-8th may participate.
Science Olympiad
Science Olympiad promotes interest in science through participation in local and state-wide competition.
Science Fair
Science Fair encourages and places an emphasis on students’ ability to think critically and solve problems pertaining to science. Utilizing the scientific method and engineering principles, students explore the interrelationship between science disciplines, create solutions to real-world, relevant problems, and use state-of-the-art technology to assist learning.
Science Bee
Spelling Bee at St. Barnabas focuses on improving a student's ability to spell while increasing their vocabulary. They will learn how to grasp new concepts using a variety of words, and how to develop and utilize the English language.
